How You Can Help

The success of the Arkansas Foodbank Network is a testament, at all levels, to Arkansans helping Arkansans: From the many volunteers who fill food bags, prepare meals and distribute food to their neighbors in need; to the thousands of people, often those who can afford it least, who reach deep into their pockets to financially support our work or that of our member agencies; to the hundreds of people who gather food through local food drives; and the corporate partners who give of their time, efforts, product and money-all play a critical role in helping to eliminate hunger in our state.

It is harder and harder to procure nutritious food for those in need. As the Arkansas Foodbank Network has to purchase more of the food we distribute, our dependence on your help continues to grow. For specific ways you can be a part of our efforts and reach out to your neighbors in need, contact Roger Simon at (501) 565-8121, ext. 12.

DONATE FOOD

Since we were founded in 1984, accessing nutritious food for hungry Arkansans has become more challenging. Manufacturers and distributors have become increasingly efficient, resulting in less surplus food. And retailers, such as dollar stores and salvage centers, buy overages to which the Foodbank used to have access.

Often, the food that is available is not the nutritious food we want to make available to hungry Arkansans. This has led to a huge increase in the amount of food the Arkansas Foodbank Network has to purchase for its clients.

If you are a manufacturer or distributor interested in donating food to the Arkansas Foodbank Network, please contact T.J. Romine at (501) 565-8121, ext. 22

FOOD DRIVES

Food drives have become increasingly important as a method to provide nutritious food to hungry Arkansans. Community food drives are an integral part of the Arkansas Foodbank Network's efforts at creating a community where no one has to go hungry. Many groups, including churches, schools, community and civic organizations, businesses and even individuals, successfully collect quantities of canned goods and non-perishable items for those in need.

For more information about holding a food drive to benefit hungry Arkansans, please contact Walter Tucker at (501)565-8121.

TOP TEN ITEMS NEEDED:

All donations should be non-perishable, and nothing should be in glass containers.
Unfortunately the Health Department does not allow us to accept homemade items.
