The Arkansas Foodbank is working closely with Feeding America, our national partner and with the Arkansas Department of Health to continually monitor all developments with COVID-19. The health and well being of our staff, volunteers, clients and pantry operators is at the forefront of all we do.
Over the past few weeks, our lives have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19. Events have been canceled or postponed, schools have closed, and travel has been limited. With COVID-19 rapidly spreading through the state, beginning Friday, March 20th, we will limit access to the building to help “flatten the curve” and help slow the spread of this pandemic. Although we are exceptionally grateful for all of the wonderful volunteer support that we have received in the face of this current health related incident, to allow the continuity of business while practicing social distancing, we are limiting the amount of volunteers that will be allowed to participate in volunteer activities here at the Arkansas Foodbank. Until further notice, we will no longer be accepting volunteers through our website. We will have some limited number of volunteers working with us and this effort will be coordinated through Arkansas Foodbank partnerships and our Volunteer Engagement Department.
Some of you will begin to receive cancellation notifications from our Volunteer Engagement Department that will be shared using our Volunteer management database. If you do not receive an email cancellation then you are still scheduled to volunteer.
The Arkansas Foodbank, and each of you, are a critical piece of the COVID-19 response for the state during this difficult time, and I want to thank you for helping us rise to the occasion. I want to thank you for your flexibility and cooperation during this period. I also want to thank you for your commitment to our mission of feeding hungry Arkansans and continuing to do your jobs to the best of your ability as we face this pandemic together.
We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated.
