Summertime in Arkansas usually means sunny skies, playing games, riding bikes, and ice cream; but for some children, it’s a time of wondering where their next meal will come from – especially since they are not getting breakfast and lunch at school.
Over the last 19 years, the Arkansas Foodbank and THV 11 have teamed up to collect cereal to make sure children and families have access to breakfast over the summer and throughout the year. Giving cereal is more than just giving food. When you give to the Summer Cereal Drive, you’re helping make sure children and families get the most important meal of the day to fuel their body.
Each Tuesday and Thursday through the month of June, the Arkansas Foodbank, THV 11, Hiland Dairy, AT&T, Hot 94.9 and KSSN 96 will be in different communities around central Arkansas collecting cereal. We’ve already had a great turn out in Saline County, North Little Rock, Little Rock, and Cabot. You can see the list below of where we’re headed next to join us. Cereal collected at these community sites will go directly to the children and families in these areas.
There are also several businesses in our community where you can drop off your cereal donation. AT&T locations, First National Bank branches, First Security Bank locations, the Outlets of Little Rock, Everett locations, and of course you can always drop your donation by the Arkansas Foodbank.
Our goal is 500,000 boxes. Won’t you help us reach it?
