Steadfast Volunteers Like Eli Make Mobile Distributions Possible
Clients wait hours in the heat, cold and rain at Geyer Springs United Methodist Church’s bi-weekly mobile food distribution to receive food from Arkansas Foodbank. From the time they arrive to when they leave, families are greeted with a warm and happy smile by volunteer, Eli Esau.
Eli has volunteered at Geyer Springs United Methodist Church’s food pantry for 5 years and has also become Pantry Director Terri Hammond’s right hand man. Every week, Eli takes his personal truck and trailer and picks up food at the Foodbank. Then, he helps unload at the church and oversees the weekly food packing and distributions events.
From organizing and cleaning the food pantry’s storage rooms, packing boxes, and helping load food boxes into families’ cars during the weekly distribution events, Eli does it all!
Geyer Springs United Methodist Church’s food pantry serves nearly 400 clients every month and none of it would be possible without the gracious help of volunteers like Eli.
