Arkansas Foodbank Announces Summer Feeding Sites
May 25th, 2021 – Arkansas Foodbank recently announced 11 summer feeding sites which will provide crucial nutrition during the summer months when school is not in session and children lose access to free meals. Most sites provide breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday.
“Arkansas Foodbank is committed to ensuring that children have the food they need to thrive in the summer months when schools are closed,” said Regina Taylor, chief community initiatives officer for the Foodbank. “With the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program, we’ll be working with local partners to provide children with enough food to eat at no cost.”
All sites are open, meaning the children do not have to be enrolled in a program and can show up at meal-time to receive food.
These sites are part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and are designed to replace free- and reduced-price meals that the children would normally receive at school. These grab-and-go meals will be provided to all children without charge and the same meals will be served to all children 18 years of age and under, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.
Meals will be provided at the sites and times as follows:
