Cal-Maine Foods Donates 252,000 eggs to Arkansas Foodbank
Last week, the Arkansas Foodbank received 21,000 dozens of eggs from Cal-Maine Foods through the Poultry Federation.
“Eggs are an item our clients always ask for, so to have them near the holidays is exciting,” said Eric Shelby, Arkansas Foodbank COO.
The President of The Poultry Federation spoke with Foodbank CEO, Rhonda Sanders about the need for eggs recently. Tim Thompson, Vice President, Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. had mentioned in a Poultry Federation board of directors meeting that if they ever had a surplus of eggs and if there was a need, he would be more than happy to contribute. After speaking to Rhonda, Marvin reached out to Tim and that is how the plan was “hatched” to donate the 21,000 dozen eggs to the Arkansas Foodbank.
We are so excited to have such a quality donation especially as we enter the holiday season and we can’t wait to get these eggs out to those facing hunger in central and southern Arkansas. Thank you to Cal-Maine Foods and The Poultry Federation for their partnership with the Foodbank and helping us #FaceHungerTogether!
